If you’re a cold sore sufferer, you’ve probably asked yourself a variation of the following question:
“how often am I supposed to get cold sores?”
Hey, it’s a legitimate question.
Because if you’re new to the whole cold sore thing, you’re terrified about when your next outbreak is gonna hit.
And if you’ve been dealing with cold sores for a long time, you’re wondering if you’re getting more than your fair share.
But here’s the thing.
There’s no good way to answer this question.
I can give you numbers aggregated from clinical studies and all that, but those are just averages compiled from other people.
In truth, the number of cold sore outbreaks you suffer through IS normal.
Because the whole concept of ‘normal’ depends on what you’re comparing to.
If you get only one or two small outbreaks per year and you’re comparing yourself to severe recurring sufferers who get big, nasty outbreaks every couple of weeks, you’re doing pretty good!
But if you compare yourself to someone who carries the herpes virus but is completely asymptomatic (yes, 67% of people infected with the virus DON’T get cold sores, lucky bastards), you’re doing pretty bad.
So instead, here’s a better question to ask:
“What can you do today to help reduce the frequency of YOUR cold sores?”
Asking this question instead of worrying whether you’re ‘normal’ or not gives YOU the power.
Because instead of wasting energy worrying about whether you can be considered a freak show or not, you’re looking for a solution to the problem.
You OWN the problem and work towards getting less cold sores than before.
So even if you only manage to get one less outbreak this year than last year, you’re doing better then YOUR normal.
Of course, figuring out what you need to do to reduce the frequency of your cold sores can be hard.
There’s so much information out there (most of it bad). Take lysine… Take a prescription anti-viral… Avoid arginine… Drink hydrogen peroxide… Buy homeopathic remedies… Use essential oils… Avoid your triggers…
Where the heck do you even start?
Or maybe you tried all that stuff and you’re still not getting less cold sores than last year. What then?
It’s easy to feel lost and/or that you’re out of options.
That’s why my email Newsletter makes cold sore prevention as simple as possible.
It shows how stopping the reactivation of the herpes virus, as opposed to stopping its replication (which is what virtually every single cold sore treatment out there does, crappily), is the best way to lower your chances of getting outbreaks in the future.
But that starts with finding out WHY your keep coming back by taking the quiz at the link below:
It’s designed to narrow down why YOUR cold sores keep coming back over and over again, and show you and WHAT you need to do to prevent the virus from reactivating in the first place.
