Getting PTSD from Cold Sores

I’ll tell you, some cold sore “sufferers” just don’t know how good they have it.

Like this one dude who posted on a forum how he was diagnosed with PTSD a short while after being infected with oral HSV-1.

Which I could understand.

After all, nothing in my life has made me more paranoid or has scarred me deeper than having big nasty cold sores take over my life for weeks at a time.

It’s like spending months at a time with disgusting blisters or big ugly scabs has embedded an exaggerated sense of self-consciousness deep into my lizard brain, to the point where I feel it even when I don’t have an outbreak.

So trust me, I get where he’s coming from.

Except for one problem.

After this guy got infected with the herpes virus, he said that he only ever got one tiny outbreak on the inside of his lip (where nobody can see it) a year later, and multiple doctors have told him it wasn’t even a cold sore, but rather a canker sore…

Cry me a goddamn river.

PTSD from a not-even-cold-sore that nobody can see…

I would have KILLED to have such mild symptoms back in the day, and I’m sure you feel exactly the same way.

Because you know what it’s like to have icky cold sores that just keep coming back, no matter what you do. Cold sores too big to hide, and yet you still have to go out, face the world and live your life as normally as you can.

He has no idea how good he has it.

He has no idea what it’s like to have people stare at you for weeks, simply out of morbid fascination.

And HE’s the one with PTSD?

Hell, if that’s the case, I should have UPTSD (i.e. Uber-PTSD).

I suppose I just have to remind myself: it’s not a competition, CHRIS.

Everybody has different levels of symptoms. Some get big nasty cold sores almost every month, while others get one or two outbreaks in their entire lives.

Cold Sore Control is mostly for the former.

It’s mostly for those who have lost control of their lives to cold sores and keep getting outbreaks every few weeks and would be ecstatic to get only one or two small outbreaks a year.

But, it’s also for the lucky bastards who already get only one or two outbreaks a year, but want to get NO outbreaks a year.

There’s enough herpes killing nuggets of informational gold to help both types of cold sore sufferers get what they want.
